Life Class: Nude

Artist Alan Kane breaks with the conventions of fine art by bringing the live nude model to daytime television.
Sadly you can only watch the episodes online if you are in the UK, but there are some interesting clips here: LINK or You Tube has some bits of the episodes

Contains nudity.

Scribble Box Closing Party

Hi Everyone!

So Scribble Box has come to an end but we think it has been a huge success. Thanks to everyone for taking part. We are delighted with how well it all looked and the great response that we've had to the exhibition. In regards to collecting work, we thought why not make an evening out of it and have everyone come in this MONDAY JULY 20th to collect their pieces and to meet the other artists. A few people have expressed an interest in swapping work so this is the perfect opportunity to do this.

So come down to Bombhouse MONDAY JULY 20th, 6pm onwards, bring a few drinks and we'll have a last look at it all before comes down! If anyone can't make it on Monday, drop us an email or contact Emma on 086 3381101 to arrange alternative arrangements for collecting work.

Looking forward to it,
From
Everyone @ Bombhouse

Projected Weekends Opportunity

The Projected Weekends series was established by the Digital Hub Development Agency to give independent creatives a platform in Dublin through which to showcase their work in the public domain on a screen on Thomas Street, Dublin 8.

The Digital Hub is now re-launching this successful series and is calling for submissions from national and international animators, film makers, performance artists, research groups, photographers and illustrators for the Winter 2009/2010 series of Projected Weekends. The first screening will take place on Culture Night (25 September 2009), and Projected Weekends will then run every weekend thereafter until the end of April 2010.

I think this is DEFINITELY something we could get involved with
Digital Hub Projected Weekends

Me banner

So here is my banner, not sure why I like it but I do. I tried to think of something related to our future project hence the crows/ ravens. I found loads of  70's printed curtains while doing a clear out at home for my folks and now I'm using them for everything...I'm a bit obsessed with masking at the moment, stop me at any time if you think I'm going too far with this.

'appy Bastille day!

Extended Persepolis

The FullBook Here

Interesting post on eye magazines blog drawing attention to the recent appropriation of Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel Percepolis. This breakout graphic novel, a coming of age story telling the story of her life in Tehran from ages six to fourteen, years that saw the overthrow of the Shah's regime, the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, and the devastating effects of war with Iraq garnered much critical and commercial success and was subsequently adapted into a faithfully rendered and successful (and Oscar nominated) animated movie.

Now her story has been furthered adapted, tweaked or re-imagined to reflect the political and social uprisings following the recent elections in Iran. This has been done by a third party apparently without the authors permission. Although I'd imagine she probably is happy for her work to be used in this way as she obviously feels the elections were rigged.
