Back to Earth by Andrew Rae
Andrew Rae has illustrated a lovely simple wordless comic strip about an astronaut who struggles with adjusting back to normal life on earth after having flown to the moon. The simple black & white line drawings and his choice of framing & composition for each scene are perfect, click here to see it all.
Buildings & Vampires
This short animation directed by Sebastian Baptista & Nico Casavecchia illustrates the story Max makes up for his mam at the start of 'Where the Wild Things Are'. The combination of animation on top of live action stick puppets is nicely done and integrated pretty seamlessly.

Threadless
Hi there fellow Tinderboxers.
I wonder if you have all heard of Threadless? They're a very well-known tshirt company that receives illustrations from the general public. If your illustration/design is selected, it goes up for voting in their public forum. After 7 days, if you have enough votes from the forum, they print your tshirt and give you lots of delicious cash-money!
Can you help me get my design printed by going to Threadless and scoring it? Pretty please? You have to create an account, but its quick and painless! I often go to threadless just to look at all the fabulous designs that are submitted.
Anyhoo, my design is a silly tee/onesy for kids that somehow got selected for consideration. WOOHOO!

Also, all you talented tinderboxers should give it a go.
Wish me luck and thanks for voting :)

Pixar: Day and Night
Pixar is famous for their award winning animated feature films. They also produce little show-piece animations to accompany new releases in cinemas. This one, Day and Night is shown before Toy Story 3. If you get a chance to see it on the big screen, it's captivating!

Charles Avery
I really like this guy. I should send him an invite for this Blog!
"Working across a range of media, Avery's art is characterised by formal beauty, humour and a spirit of philosophical enquiry, and is influenced by the work of (among others) William Blake, PG Woodehouse, Jorge Luis Borges, Joseph Beuys and Joseph Kosuth..."

New custom artwork in my studio
New work: Luisa & Peter.
Paper sculpture in a wood box with glass.
Paper sculpture in a wood box with glass.
New custom artwork from my studio.
This commissioned work is a gift from my wonderful friend Mercedes for her cousins Luisa and Peter, who celebrate their silver jubilee.
Mercedes asked me to include the Romanesque chapel in which they were married and evoked the beautiful garden, where it is located.
Luisa and Peter accompanied by their sons and friendly dogs. I hope you enjoy it!.
A big hug!!

new work in progress
whoops !!
I meant this post to go on my own blog but it went here ,and well .....it seems a shame to not let it stay :D
(not too much to report) , but I am keeping going with some new drawings , its a good time of year to see a lot of people you wouldnt normally see.
Summer is always busy , I prefer the quieter times and have to remember that I am not an Island (challenging)
B.T.W tinderboxers , the idea for a collective response to song lyrics through drawing is still going to happen .....I am musing it along and will put up a call late aug early sept.
If anyone has any suggestions or whatnot please post them here on the comments :D
stay happy
