Parapluie

My collaboration to the suggestion of Jane. It is made from the song "Parapluie" from Georges Brassens. Yann Tiersen has made a great cover of it. The line is : "Un petit coin de parapluie pour un coin de paradis."

The Symphony No. 4 in E minor by Johannes Brahms - Heartstrings

This was inspired by Symphony No. 4 in E minor by Johannes Brahms, the quoted line is the first few bars of the second movement.
The picture illustrates emotional development of a musical composition: starting with dark somber notes of miserable office workers going to their crammed workplaces on a dark morning, developing into repetitive routine of greed and buzzwords.... then gradually changing into light birds floating among the currents of wind.
Of course such is only one personal interpretation of the symphony written by Brahms in 1885, I love listening to this piece!

Wandering Eye - Heartstrings

'Wandering Eye' by Fat Freddys Drop..
Fat Freddys Drop are Dub/Reggae band from New Zealand. When I moved to Melbourne they were my first concert & this song stood out from everything else they played that night. I always think of that when I hear this song...i miss Melbourne!

Gainsbourg for Heartstrings

Thanks to Jane for organising the Heartstrings project.
I think we were all glad of the project extension, I know I was.
Here is a portrait of Serge Gainsbourg. I'm fascinated by his appeal here in France.
Poet, lover, rebel and hero for various reasons including his many conquests with the ladiiiies.
I'll be working on this a bit further with some song lyrics, but here he is.
Thanks again Jane

Heartstrings

Midnight Cowboy is one of my favourite films of all time, it always makes me cry. music has always being associated with film in my mind, even if a song has never been in a movie it will be cinematic in my mind. so if you don't mind I going to where the sun keeps shining in the pouring rain

FRIDAY 29TH OCTOBER !!! before if you can as it leaves only a week to make up the multiples.
You will be in a cute as a button multiples project to be launched at our own tinderbox stall at the second independants fair on sunday 7th november.
Have you seen whats going on at the fair ?,its going to be rocking.

hi guys ....I have four drawings including my own
a big thank you to elida , claire and alan and am hoping that we can get a few more in .......????
My plan is to make a little multiples pack of the song drawings in time for the independants day zine fair which is on sunday the 7th november.
I want to place the drawings B&W photocopies/colour (into vintage 7inch record sleeves which I will customise the front of the record sleeve with a printed sticker.)
I have a 1950's wire singles record rack to display the multiples in ...omg its going to be great !
Elida had the fab idea of playing the songs on an i-pod ...maybe on headphones while the person looks at the original drawings.( paper clipped into a large song book)
To be honest I feel a little sad :( and would like to know if there are any others out there that want to work collectively ?....there are over 100 followers and a lot of new contributors , there must be some more peeps that draw.
Stand up and be counted.

READ CAREFULLY DIGEST AND THEN PRESS GO X
1*please leave a comment if you have a drawing and its nearly ready.
2* remember its about being in something together , your drawing will part of something greater , its not going to be judged ,you probably have a drawing already that you have made that is in fact related to a song .....
hmmmm bet you have SEND THE BABY IN WE WANT IT
3*has anyone got any unwanted outer cardboard 7inch record sleeves (it doesnt matter how cheesy they are)
4*I know that there are lots of fantastic artists in tinderbox lets make this work

Illustration Competition

Hey y'all,

Just wanted to let you know about a competition being run by the House of Illustration and the Folio Society. All the info is available here, but in brief, they want you to illustrate 3 pages and the cover for Albert Camus' The Outsider. The prize is a 4k commission and the closing date is 10th Jan 2011. Worth a shot. Good luck.

Robotbag changes the world

Hello again!

I know I am a big last minute mongrel, but my friend Simon Kinane and I are entering a version of Robotbag to a competition that finishes today, Friday.

Part of the score is the reaction of the audience.
So, if you want, watch the film and comment!

For the Tinderbox Heartstrings Collection of Song Drawings. Hitting the ground.

Hello!

This is my submission to Jane's Heartstrings Song project.
I still have to scan it and add perhaps a layer of colour to it.
Ah, I thought it'd be good to upload a work in progress.
I'll finish it today, Jane, I promise!

The song: Hitting the Ground
By Gordon Gano, as sung by PJ Harvey.

Okey Bokeh

The area of photography called 'Bokeh' can provide some very beautiful images - Bokeh basically involves focusing on blur, so to speak... an intentional use of the out-of-focus as part of the compositional appeal of a shot. There are 88 examples of such images here: INSTANT SHIFT

Bubble in the sky

Bubble in the sky, originally uploaded by Esther Moliné.

Hi! I just joined the site! Looking forward to seeing everybody else's work. I'm from Madrid but have been living in Dublin for the last 20 years! I'm interested in all kinds of art even though I'm mainly into photography myself. Haven't been doing it for very long though, still lots to learn! Here's a big bubble I caught at Grafton Street a while ago, thanks to a guy who's often making bubbles there

Independents Day!

Hello!

This is going to be a bit long, so:

1. Look at the poster I made for Independents Day! I hope you like it!

2. Would any of you, fabulous artists, like to participate in the Independents Day exhibition?

If so, contact Julia Duff (xxxjulz[at]gmail.com).

3. Let us have a Tinderbox stall. We can sell postcards, jewellery, artifacts, artwork, the zines (I have a bunch of copies of each issue)... It only costs a fiver, and it can be a lot of fun. It would be fan tas tic to go as a gang, perhaps spending just one hour each at the stall, then floating around between coffee, bands, and artzines!

I hope you think it is a good idea, please, drop a comment or email me (elida.maiques[at]gmail.com).

:]

BLACKOUT POSTER Day Time - Play Time

The concept of the poster was to show how people have to present an image in work\day time but at night they can be themselves. I also thought this would be good for glow in the dark ink.

Harry Hill... yes really!

There's a Vic Reeves-y quality to his work that I found very enticing.
