Volgens de vogels (According to Birds)

Denise's post reminded me of another animation I came across recently, Volgens de Vogels (According to Birds), a 2008 graduation film by Linde Faas. Not a whole lot happens in it but the pencil sketch animation is so delicate and beautiful that you can't stop watching.

work in progress...

This is the layout sketch I've done for my piece for the new Tinderbox exhibition. I'd originally planned on a trilogy of pieces of 3 of my favourite films - Shaun of the Dead, Amelie & Blade Runner but it's taken way longer than I thought to do just one so the others will have to wait for now!
The final piece is going to be cut out of black, white & red paper so I was drawing it with this in mind, trying to find a way for all the blacks to join up so they'd hold together when cut.

'Hedgehog in the Fog' by Yuri Norstein (1975)

I came across this animation based on a Russian folk tale. beautiful.

Leprechauns

In celebration of St Paddy's Day I have a post with an Irish feel.

The Leprechaun Museum, is a celebration of all that is Irish in tales and folklore. I haven't been there, intend too but will have to wait for my next visit to the "Big Smoke", apparently it's pretty cool affair, good design and nothing cheesy, so it's worth a visit. Its on Jervis Street, the website is pretty sparse and can't seem to find an exact address but here's a link to have a search for it yourself.

Let me know if anyone visits
