Hello...

Hi All,

Just joined your network and wanted to say "Hi". I'm a graphic designer based in Kilkenny, you can see what I do on my site helddesign.ie or through my own blog. Now I've introduced myself, I'm off to think of something creative to WOW you all with!!

Have a couple of new pieces up on my blog including a little bit of experimenting with woodturning, which I would love to do more of in the future.

On Being Blue (Hello)

Hi everyone, I've just joined up and wanted to introduce myself. I'm really not as active as I should be but hopefully this'll be the year for progress. My name's Ciaran and my blog is at http://foundinadrawer.blogspot.com/

Here's an old drawing, which is a portrait of one of the other new tinderboxers (who'll remain nameless). It's named after one of my favourite books, a philosophical treatise / prose-poem about the colour blue, by William Gass.

'bear suited' (in progress)

I haven't posted any of my work here in a while, so, here's a painting I've been working on over the last couple of days. Its still in progress, as everything I do seems to be! Might let it rest for a bit and come back to it in a week or so... This weather is forcing me to be more productive, in a good way :)

Bernard Shaw close of Christmas Exhibition

A little reminder for anybody who exhibited at the Christmas show in the B Shaw; the exhibition is being dismantled today so you can call in and pick up your pieces. Did anybody sell their stuff?

TINDERBOX 2010

Tinderbox in 2010
What do we want to achieve / attempt / explore / share ?
Please post here with ideas and suggestions for projects in 2010.
Things that are already lined up include:

More Storysketching
In association with the Narrative arts club. (What is story sketching?) This will happen before the end of January. Dates will be confirmed this week.

Tinderbox Open Forum
This is something that was discussed last year and I hope will come together this year.
The idea is that we get a speaker to prepare a brief presentation on an art / industry-related topic. The discussion/debate is open to the group in attendance to contribute to or question. The aim is that we share our knowledge and enthusiasm in an accessible way.

Exhibition
We are currently looking for free/cheap venues for another open show in March/April. That's pretty soon so any info or suggestions would be very welcome.

Please post your feedback / ideas here.

Clients From Hell

This blog kept me chortling knowingly to myself over Christmas. Sample post:

“The logo with the goose and buoy should be the main focus of the ad. Make sure to have some fried chicken legs somewhere. Add a few lady bugs, maybe two or more? The company’s main color is yellow. Also, please make this christmas themed.”

I would advise going back to the very start, it's all good stuff.
