Hey folks, long time reader, first time poster.

They're showing the silent classic Nosferatu tomorrow night in the beatiful Dartmouth Square in Ranelagh with a live band (3epkano) as part of the Ranelagh Arts Festival.

It starts at 8pm, and there's no way to reserve tickets, so I'd advise coming early. The Square is surrounded on all sides by huge trees, and on three sides by Georgian houses.

NOSFERATU - A SYMPHONY OF HORRORS
Directed by F.W. Murnau; Year of Production - 1921 (Germany); Duration - 93mins; Silent with English intertitles and live music by 3epkano*

An iconic film of the German expressionist cinema, and one of the most famous of all silent movies, F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror continues to haunt - and, indeed, terrify - modern audiences with the unshakable power of its images. By teasing a host of occult atmospherics out of dilapidated set pieces and innocuous real-world locations alike, Murnau captured on celluloid the deeply rooted elements of a waking nightmare, and launched the signature "Murnau-style" that would change cinema history forever.

* 3epkano are a Dublin based, seven-piece collective dedicated to producing original soundtracks for silent and avant-garde cinema. Founded in early 2004, they are:

Richard McCullough: keyboards/organ
James Mackin: drums/percussion
Matthew Nolan: electric guitar
Laurence Mackin: bass guitar
Cameron Doyle: electric guitar
Lioba Petrie: cello
Karen Dervan: viola
