London Calling all Tinderboxers

Hi everyone,

Long have us Londoners regarded your great events with envious eyes, so for a while now we have been thinking how we can represent Tinderbox in London?

I’m having a first meeting with a cool coffee shop with the possibility of us exhibiting some work there. http://www.departmentofcoffee.co.uk/

This being a bit of a chicken and egg situation, in that we have yet to secure the venue, I still feel we need to think about what we will exhibit. Will it be a free for all with our best work or do we go with a unified brief and totally new work? Both have their advantages and disadvantages.

So I ask all tinderboxers who are interested, especially the London and UK based, to get in touch as it is a great chance to put some faces to names and to take this opportunity to get involved, where geography may have stopped us before. I know some of you were interested in the post Michael put up in November about doing a London exhibition, so this is a chance for everyone (Ireland/UK/France/Europe/everywhere) to get involved.

Help, feedback and words of wisdom are all welcome, this is an initial shout out but please watch this space.

Hi! Absolutely in! Im living in London - but just about to move (on monday) elsewhere (dont know where! ha!) - but yes id be up for exhibition here, the cafe looks cool. I think I'd like to not be tied to a brief..I know it helps to have a starting point but also it restricts a little also..

Sounds great. For those of us not living in London, would it be possible to send our work to you Lee?

Yep i see no reason why we can not do what everyone did for us when things where in ireland, so yeah send work to us when the time comes.

I have thought about the "theme" issue and im thinking make it open and themeing it TINDERBOX so it pushes the group in London.

Again nothing is set in stone yet as i would like to have the venue have some input.

Great initiative Lee (and Michael)
I think its a good idea to let people enter their best work rather than hurriedly working towards a common theme. It will allow people to realize existing projects.

You have my full support and I look forward to hearing more as the project progresses... Besides, its a good excuse for a trip to London.

Hi! Sorry I've been away in Spain, just saw this now. I'd definitely be interested in taking part, great idea, thanks! I'd go for the best work selection too rather than try to go for a common theme myself too

Meeting went well now its a waiting game.

Yeah in the meeting they liked the idea of the theme of 'this is tinderbox' an introduction of what we are about. It went really well so we should hear back soon.

Hello Lee. That sounds good. Count me in. I'd love the idea of having a brief theme so the show could look a bit more consistent.
