Plato "lived" in a cave and argues that the invisible world is the most intelligible and that the visible world is the least knowable, and the most obscure.
In fairness though, tinderbox was born as a result of my (more bland than boring)job. But i guess the key here is living in your job. If your 9-5 is all you have you can easily loose sight of your original dream.
